Mem bers of Coastal Voices and Bangor Community Choir travelled to France to the city of Oloron St Marie in the foothills of the Pyrenees for five days at the end of May. We were hosted by members of Choeur Sensible. We stayed first at a delightful gite complex and then were accommodated by members of the choir. Our itinerary saw us visiting local towns as well as travelling over the Pyrenees one day into Spain. Highlights included many spontaneous sings in different venues including a church in Jaka, Spain and being hosted by the Mairie in Oloron. There were many opportunities for a quick Sho Shelosa not least on the cable car in Pau or at the fantastic but deserted station at Canfranc. Some of our delicious acoustic experiences will be with us for a long time! We may also have sung in the departure lounge at the airport on the way home much to the bemusement of the other travellers. As well as enjoying ourselves hugely we raising with Choeur Sensible more than 2000 Euros for the Nepal disaster fund with our two joint concerts. A big thank you to Miriam for all her hard work in the planning at our end and of course to Lorraine, Nathalie, Sophie and everyone else from Choeur Sensible who made the trip possible! Merci beaucoup!
