2025, joining Côr Cymuned Bangor Community Choir in their 25th Anniversary Celebrations!

A chilly morning in February found is in St Tysilio’s Church, Church Island Menai Bridge. The church has no electricity and the candles in the candelabras had been lit… just magical. With our fellow singers from Bangor Choir we filled the tiny church with ourselves and our singing. Making our way up to St Mary’s church there was more singing before a celebratory lunch and magnificent views of the Menai Straits, from Dylan’s thanks to the team there who made up so welcome and enjoyed our singing!!

In March we were able to visit Penrhyn Castle and sing in the two storey high Great Hall. The National Trust team were excellent and really looked after us.

In May were were delighted to support Bangor Choir’s 25th Anniversary Food bank Fundraiser in Bangor Cathedral. Bangor Choir has fledged other singers, performers and choirs over the years, so it was a pleasure to join Y Boncathod, Threnody and Hopewell Ink! The afternoon concert was just lovely and raised £1130.00 for the Food bank. As always tea and cake just go hand in hand with singing :).

To end the summer term Bodnant Gardens couldn’t be missed. It was a scorcher with ridiculous humidity, so we dodged from patch of shade to patch of shade!

Coastal Voices Celebrate 20 years!!

How does a choir celebrate? Why by singing more of course! And perhaps eating too 🙂 to combine these our first 20th Anniversary Celebrations took us to St Asaph Cathedral, an acoustic delight, where we sang a lot of songs, enjoying the different areas and varying acoustics.

This was followed by a delightful lunch at the Bod Erw, together with exciting birthday cake, thank you Sarah L (& Dinah)!

In May we celebrated witha WaterAid fundraiser to the tune of £1362.00… Singing, with lashings of tea and cake, all proceeds going to WaterAid. Thanks to everyone who support the event and all choir members for their voices and extreme generosity. Special mention to Ian W!

In June ’24 we were delighted to return to Bodnant Gardens in the Conwy Valley, it just never disappoints!

We had hoped to sing in the Great hall at Penrhyn Castle at Christmas, but a red warning by Storm Darragh put a stop to that, hopefully next year. We made up for it though in the Amnesty Xmas Sing in Llandudno’s Victoria Centre.

Spring Term 2024

The spring term starts on 16th January 7 to 9 pm. New members always welcome. Lovely new songs are planned as always as well as revisiting favourite ones from our repertoire.

Check out the Diary Dates’ page for all the things in our 2024 diary already including singing at Bodnant garden on June 29th. Exciting!!

Plas Newydd, Ynys Mon 25th June 2023

Our final sing before the summer break. Thanks to National Trust staff for welcoming us. We were definitely dodging the showers (and downpours!) but undeterred by this umbrellas were up for the spots of rain at 1pm and then very conveniently it brightened up for 2.30. Happy times. Thanks everyone 🙂

Summer ’23 Sing at Powis Castle

Amazing and delightful to be back at Powis Castle, thank you so much to the National Trust staff for making us feel so welcome. So lovely to sing on the Castle steps in the courtyard before heading down terrace by terrace, singing on each. A definite harmonic and acoustic highlight was singing in the orangery, so resonant and wonderful.

An altogether fabulous outing 🙂

Amnesty International Fundraiser 2023

A massive thank you to everyone who came and supported us on the 15th April. So exciting to get together and give a formal performance with Bangor Community Choir.

A fabulous set of songs from our repertoire from peace and unity to some old favourite feel good songs. Some much delicious cake in the interval 🙂 and £1,200.00 raised for our local Amnesty group. We were overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity both in terms of time, and cake and donations!! Thank you all.

Here’s the view from the choir 🙂

Informal Summer Sings

Check our our Diary- What’s On! page for more details of our sings at the beautiful Bodnant Gardens on Sunday 19th June and Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens nr Menai Bridge on Sunday 26th June. We’re delighted to be back performing again.

Croeso -Welcome to 2022!!

Well it’s certainly been a journey through the pandemic. We’ve been on Zoom, and singing outside too.

The highlight of 2021 for me was singing on Radio 4’s PM programme in the week before Christmas. It was so lovely to bring Coastal Voices and Bangor Community Choir together again after almost 2 years. We were ‘on air’ for a couple of minutes but we certainly made the best of our time together singing some old favourites while we waited 🙂

And now we’re back meeting indoors face to face with various Covid mitigations, but it’s just a delight to see everyone again and get back to some live singing of those heart warming harmonies.

Do get in touch with Sara if you’re interested in joining us and she’ll talk you through what’s happening and how it’s all working at the moment.

Hopefully we’ll continue to move to more of an almost back to normal feel as this year progresses.
